The Otago Chamber of Commerce has been actively involved in a number of consultations recently, from transport to vocational education, we are there representing the views of business.
The past couple of months have been busy for the Otago Chamber of Commerce Advocacy Team. We have attended meetings to discuss a number of topics of regional importance including: Otago Regional Public Transport; the redevelopment of George Street in Dunedin; and the review of the Destination Dunedin Plan.
Last week we made two formal submissions:
The first was on the Reform of Vocational Education's consultation on simplifying New Zealand qualifications and other credentials - a topic of particular importance to us given our involvement with the For Trades Apprenticeship Trust and Workforce Central Dunedin.
The second was on the Otago Regional Council's consultation on Manuherekia River Flow Scenarios - a topic of significant interest to our businesses in Central Otago as the rural and business communities in the region are strongly interlinked. Adjustments to the river flow are likely to have a major impact on the rural community and any changes need to be carefully considered.
If you would like to hear more about these submissions, please view the PDF documents located at the bottom of this article.
