Women in Wine – Portraits of Success
By Women in Wine | Posted: Sunday November 4, 2018
Women in Wine have joined with Otago University to bring to the region interesting and special speakers that offer insights into different ways of achieving things and provide a motivational boost to everyone.
These events are open to the whole community, Titled “Portraits of Success” The first speaker is Diane Edwards from the Ports of Auckland who succeeded in tapping into a totally new workforce for the Port and bringing about big changes in how it does business. Central Otago is facing many business employment and resource challenges now and in the future and thinking a bit differently may provide some solutions.
This event is also an opportunity for the Wine Industry to celebrate and offer a tasting of the many Gold and Trophy award winners at the recent NZ International Wine Show (IWS). Central Otago more than punched above its weight with winners, including, Archangel Queensbury, Wooing Tree Cromwell, Domain Rd Bannockburn and two Trophy winners, Three Miners Alexandra, and Matt Connell Wines Bendigo, overall show Trophy. What this success has proved is that each of our sub regions where wine is grown have shown their unique qualities and that each region and the wine making ability is at that gold plus standard. That’s something pretty unique in New Zealand as many other wine regions don’t have the diversity of conditions that we have in Central. This is worthy of promoting and remembering for the many visitors to the region they will get a unique experience in each of our sub regions.
