Have your Say - Otago Regional Council Policy Statement
By Otago Regional Council | Posted: Monday February 17, 2020
The Regional Policy Statement (RPS) sets direction for what people and communities can and cannot do when using natural resources, or when they are subdividing or developing land.
Otago Regional Council (ORC) is responsible for managing Otago’s land, coast, air and water resources on behalf of the community, for our future. Otago’s Regional Policy Statement (RPS) seeks to identify these unique resources and set out a way to manage them.
You can help ORC develop a new RPS, they would love to know which Otago natural or physical resources you value or have concerns about. This could include topics related to air, the coast, landuse, freshwater, biodiversity, hazards, natural character and/or urban development and will help us identify the significant resource management issues for the whole region.
The RPS doesn’t contain rules; it establishes the framework for Otago's regional and district plans in which resource management policies, objectives and rules sit. It identifies issues for the region and includes how natural resources will be managed.
ORC is inviting all people in Otago to take part in a questionnaire to tell them what they think of these issues, and to find out which Otago natural or physical resources they value or have concerns about.
Head to https://yoursay.orc.govt.nz/RPS or call 0800 474 082 for a paper copy of the questionnaire to have your say. Feedback closes at 5pm on 25 February.
