Changes to the ORC Regional Plan Air have been notified which will affect domestic heating in Otago. The proposed changes are designed to meet the requirements of the governments National Environmental Standards (NES) for air quality.
Domestic heating with solid fuel burners is the main cause of pollution in most Otago towns. Failure to reach the air quality standards by 2013 means that council will not be able to approve new consents for industries and businesses that have consents to discharge to air. At replacement time industry consents will be required to be upgraded to meet the new standards.
ORC Directors Fraser McRae, Selva Selvarajah and John Threlfall discussed the NES and ORC policy and its implications for Otago homes, businesses and industries.

This seminar helped Chamber members discover what questions they should ask before taking the leap into the franchising world.
This seminar, provided by the Otago Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Westpac and Subway, helped chamber members discover what characteristics the most successful and profitable franchise operators share.
Other available information resources and a question forum followed the presentations to allow time for chamber members to unravel any franchising mysteries before any investment is made.
