School of Applied Business, Otago Polytechnic

 

XCELLERATE is a new learning experience in further education.  By recognising your existing skills and knowledge, this programme allows you to achieve a qualification in an accelerated time frame.  The course is structured around a series of management topics and features work based projects, discussion forums, interactive activities and case studies.

 

The Diploma of Business Management aims to develop general business management skills so that participants will be able to lead a high performing work team. Content includes essential skills, key measures, risk assessments, effective delegation and decision making techniques.

 

Learning Forums

During the programme, you will be required to attend a total of eight interactive discussion forums.  These forums will include an overview of the topic, group activities, discussions and an opportunity to review work based projects.  You will also hear from some experienced local professionals with expertise in the topic areas.

 

To qualify for a diploma it will be necessary to pass all eight modules, however clients can enrol in single sessions.

 

Classes are run on Wednesday mornings throughout the series.

 

Pre Requisites

This course is designed for business owners or employees who are working in management or related positions or are aspiring to do so.

 

Assessment

A range of assessment methods will be used including work based projects and presentations.

 

Career Opportunities

This programme offers graduates the opportunity to enhance their managerial skills for application in their existing role.  It enables participants to move into a role with more responsibility.
