Welcome to the Otago Chamber of Commerce  -   I would like to thank the many people who have contacted me regarding my appointment to the Chamber.

As an “adopted son” of Dunedin since arriving in the city to study at the University of Otago 25 years ago, I relish the chance to further contribute and give back to the community.  I am passionate about Dunedin and Otago and what it offers, and am excited by the prospect to continue raising the profile of local and regional businesses and the economic opportunities available.

I look forward to continuing the great work of the Chamber in the coming months by listening to its membership and partner organisations, advocating for regional and local business, working with local government and collective groups to contribute to improved outcomes for the region, while recognising and partnering businesses to support their goals and aspirations, now and into the future.

Fresh eyes will provide the organisation with a great opportunity to review where it is at, refocus on its core objectives and deliverables, while looking to get its community and membership to engage and understand the Chamber’s fundamental functions.  Hopefully this provides the Chamber an opportunity to continue working with local government, business and education, to help shape the future directions and plans for growth opportunities unique to the region.

With a wealth of commercial, educational and business successes, we need to focus on bringing all these local resources together with local government, including the Grow Dunedin Partnership to support the plans, aspirations and innovations that are so prevalent in the region.  As a region we have a proud history of being pioneers and innovators, while maintaining a stable foundation based on core values of community and people as your greatest resource.

I look forward to meeting and working with you now and into the future.

    Why join the Chamber?

"...it was the best business decision I have made for my new company. Not only has it opened doors to be able to successfully network with other business people, but in the short time I have been with the Chamber I have already earned my membership fee back from business directly attributed to the Chamber.  On top of that the confidence I have gained through the different workshops held has taken my business to levels I never thought possible."
